2006: LORD OF THE STRINGS is a Wizard/Geek Rock band from Panama City Beach which formed in July 2006. Our influences range far and wide; from our humble acoustic roots to our love of the UK's alternative, we never confine ourselves to one genre. You will find that almost all of our Harry Potter, yet a few of our gems do not. Please try to enjoy them anyhow. Listen and enjoy. If you want us to play a show, please please PLEASE do not hesitate to ask. We don't care where you live; we will take anything we are offered into consideration.
2010: Lord of the Strings is a three piece, wizard rock band based out of Panama City Beach, Florida. Since its inception in 2006, Lord of the Strings has released one full length LP, and one EP via Myspace.com.
The band's genre is difficult to pinpoint, but they have been compared to such bands as The Moldy Peaches, Oasis, and most recently, Gogol Bordello. Their lineup consists of Ben Slaughter on the mic, Mark Prather on the D20 and baby mic, and Brent Barnhart on the guitar, bass, drums, keyboard drums, and backup mic.
Lord of the Strings gained mild popularity at the height of the wizard rock, or, wrock craze. Being the only wrock band in the vicinity, they were well received at several venues around Panama City Beach. They did not however, gain entrance to the wrock inner circle, always skirting national fame—which many critics have blamed on their haphazard recording process which rarely took more than one take per song. With poor recordings leaving the bands growth up to word of mouth, the band eventually went on hiatus in late 2007. During this period Ben and Brent attended the University of Central Florida.
In 2010 Lord of the Strings dramatically increased their Myspace activity: releasing three new songs and releasing a viral video to promote their return. Coupled with the debut of their YouTube Channel and their first show in three years at Beck's Underground to an electric crowd, the band continues their tradition of entertaining fans and not taking themselves too seriously.
